SOL2 is the last release in Yamaha's lineage of superb MIDI sequencer/DAW software.
Chronology:
| XGworks 1.0 - 4.0 | Primarily MIDI sequencers, with rudimentary audio capabilities. |
| SOL | GUI refresh, DAW capabilities & realtime audio FX, improved notation view, and more. |
| SOL2 | The biggest addition to SOL2 is VST2 support. |
Additionally, two 'light' editions of SOL were released: XGworks ST, and SQ01.
A full SOL2 setup consists of: SOL2, SOL2 v2.0.9 update, SOL Database V2.0.4, XG Editor v5.1.4, 'Code'(guitar chord) & Pitch Bend V1.0.1.
